UN Disengagement Observer Force Return to Syria

According to Foreign Policy, on November 15, Associate Spokesperson for the Secretary General Farhan Haq claimed that more troops from the UN Disengagement Observer Force would return to Syria this week for the gradual return of a limited military presence of UNDOF in Syria. Despite the fact that the main purpose of the mission is to maintain the ceasefire between Israeli and Syrian forces they also will be able to provide the necessary assistance to ensure the safety of civilians in Syria.

It should be mentioned that on September 15, 2014 the UN announced the withdrawal of most of the UNDOF force after Al-Qaeda-linked militants had kidnapped dozens of peacekeepers.
