More Than 500,000 Children Living Under Siege in Syria

According to the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF report, throughout the year the number of children living in conditions under siege in Syria, has doubled and reached the mark of 500,000.

The Executive Director of the Fund Anthony Lake said that for millions of Syrians life has turned into an endless nightmare – especially for the hundreds of thousands of children living under siege. They are killed and wounded, they are afraid to go to school or even play.

UNICEF estimates that there are 100,000 children in eastern Aleppo. The Fund called on the armed opposition and the terrorists to give civilians the opportunity to leave the city and take advantage of the humanitarian corridors.
