On December 6, General Manager of Aleppo International Airport Bazem Mansour in an interview to Fars News said that the airport would soon host and set out flights again.
In addition, Mansour announced that the work for landscaping the airport’s adjacent territory and repairing the highway which links it to the eastern neighborhoods of the city has already started. The south-eastern districts of the city under control of the militants are located relatively far from the airport. This fact provides safe operation of the civilian aviation.
Such a scenario has become possible as a result of government troops successful offensive in December 2016 when they took under control more than 90% of Aleppo’s territory.
