EU Foreign Affairs Ministers on the first planned meeting of this year will discuss the situation in Syria and the role played by the EU in resolving the crisis. In addition, the ministers will discuss and summarize the profile conference on the Palestinian-Israeli settlement in Paris, which opened on January 15.
It is expected that these two questions will be raised in the schedule of the meeting. However, according to a senior EU official, it does not prevent ministers to raise additional questions, which they deem relevant.
It should be mentioned that since October, 2016, the European Union is discussing the political future of Syria and its recovery, while stressing that the decision on the way in which the country will go, should be taken by its citizens. The main aim, announced by the EU, is to achieve a common understanding of what should be a post-conflict Syria.
