According to the public statement of the Iranian embassy in Kazakhstan, Hossein Jaberi Ansari Iranian deputy foreign minister will lead Tehran delegation at Syrian talks in Astana.
It is also stated that Iran, as one of the talks initiators puts high hopes on them and supposes that the talks should lead to the constructive dialogue between Syrian government and opposition, and the achievement of a political settlement of the crisis, which has been lasting for the past six years.
Iranian Foreign Ministry also stated that Tehran had held consultations with various parties to the conflict in order to reduce the differences.
It was previously announced that the Astana talks would complement the Geneva talks on the Syrian crisis. The Geneva talks are scheduled for February 8 and will be held under the auspices of the UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.
