Syrian Arab Army (SAA) for the first time in this year attempts to advance in the direction of Raqqa neighborhood, striking ISIS positions in the southeastern countryside of Aleppo.
Under support of Aviation and National Defense Forces SAA managed to liberate several villages in the area of Khanasser plain and created vast buffer-zone around the government supply route to the Aleppo province.
Currently SAA units are attacking ISIS key positions in the area of Maskanah plain. If governmental forces managed to seize this region the new route to Raqqa province will be opened. Raqqa has been under control of terrorists since 2013.
It is likely that, there is no better time to launch this offensive on Raqqa as ISIS is planning large-scale offensive in Deir Ez-Zor.
