Syrian Government hopes that Jordan will change its policy on Syria

The chairman of the Syrian delegation to Astana, the permanent representative of Syria to the UN, Bashar al-Jaafari, said that Damascus expected that Jordan would implement its application to support truce in Syria.

He also expressed hope that the Jordanian participation in the negotiation process as an observer will enable Amman to reconsider its erroneous policy on Syria, in particular, support for groups of the armed opposition.

On February 16, at the Syrian talks in Astana, representatives of Jordan assured that King Abdullah II of Jordan fully supports the cessation of hostilities in Syria, and hopes for the early settlement of the conflict by political means.
