Kazakhstan is Ready to Contribute to the Settlement of the Syrian Crisis

Today, during the press conference Kazakh deputy foreign minister Galymzhan Koishybayev stated that the republic as a member of the UN Security Council is ready to continue contributing to global efforts in order to stabilize the situation in Syria.
He also reminded that two rounds of Syrian talks in Astana had already held (January 24-25 and February 15-16) as well as the meeting of contact group (February 6).
Koishybayev also noted that the authorities of Kazakhstan had welcomed the reached agreements and considered the results of the past meetings as a practical step towards the creation of Syrian dialogue under UN auspices in Geneva.
Let us remind you, that the idea of holding talks in Astana was proposed during the meeting of foreign ministers of Iran, Russia and Turkey, December 20, 2016. Then the ministers called for the establishment of the truce in the whole territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.
