A deputy of the European Parliament, Irzhi Mashtalka, said that the European Parliament intended to join the talks on Syria in Astana to discuss issues of humanitarian aid to the victims of the fighting.
We remind that the next round of the Syrian talks will be held in Astana on May 3-4. There will also be a meeting of Turkish, Russian and Iranian experts in Tehran on April 18-19, during which it is planned to complete work on a number of framework documents.
Taking into account the fact that the negotiations in Kazakhstan have shown their effectiveness earlier, there is a high probability that the parties will be able to reach a compromise towards delivery of humanitarian aid in Syria.
According to the UN, the number of people in need in Syria is about 19 million people. The humanitarian aid delivered by Russia can’t cover all the needs of the Syrian people. Syrian experts believe that about $20 billion a year is needed to help the victims and solve the refugee problem.
