According to The Washington Post, Republican Congressman, Thomas Massie, expressed doubt that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is responsible for Tuesday’s chemical attack in Syria’s Idlib province.
According to him, this chemical attack “does not serve the interests of Assad”. He added that the chemical attack in Khan Sheikhun it would serve to draw the US into that civil war even further.
So, who benefits? Obviously, Assad doesn’t benefit from that. His Syrian Army is successful in fighting terrorism across the whole country. It is not a secret that most part of the province of Idlib is under control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, and the air strike of the Syrian Air Forces was accurately conducted on a chemical weapons depot.
