Damascus invited OPCW inspectors to Shayrat airfield

Syria’s permanent representative to the UN, Bashar Jaafari, during a regular meeting of the UN Security Council, said that Damascus sent a letter to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), calling for a neutral, professional and impartial mission, both in Khan-Shaykhun and Shayrat airfield for launching an investigation.

Jaafari added that Syria officially declared its readiness to grant access to the OPCW mission to the Shayrat airfield in order to determine, whether sarin gas was used there and whether it was there for storage.

Obviously, the Syrian government intends to prove its innocence. After all, someone who has nothing to hide will not interfere with the work of experts to launch an investigation into the incident.
