Deputies of the European Parliament from the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) strongly condemned the US missile attack on the Syrian Shayrat airfield. They also stressed that Washington’s attack was a flagrant violation of the international law and Syrian sovereignty, and that it also contributed to escalating tensions in the region and in the world.
Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Ayman Sousan, during a meeting in Brussels, denied the contrived claims made by the U.S., stressing that Syria honestly fulfills its obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
The Syrian diplomat criticized the ‘blind obedience’ of the EU to the current policy of the United States. In his opinion, such behavior harms the European countries. Particularly, it led to the recent terrorist attacks.
In addition, Ayman Sousan confirmed Damascus’ readiness to cooperate with all countries that are genuinely ready to fight terrorism.
For their part, the European deputies expressed solidarity with Syria in the fight against terrorism, indicating that they would do everything possible to spread the truth about what was happening. They noted that they would try to ensure the EU government to change its policy on Syria.
