Close cooperation between the United States and the Kurds is strongly condemned by Turkey. The degree of tension between NATO allies continues to increase.
According to BBC, just after a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan indicated that “Turkey would never accept a U.S. alliance with Kurdish forces fighting in Syria.”
Erdogan believes that contacts with Kurds, regardless of which country they perceive as a partner, are contrary to internationally accepted commitments.
Obviously, this kind of disagreement between Ankara and Washington will only lead to an even greater escalation of the situation in Syria and the Middle East as a whole.
