The Syrian government strongly condemns the EU decision to extend sanctions against Syria.
According to Damascus, such restrictive measures are aimed exclusively at supporting the armed opposition and escalation the situation not only in Syria, but in the Middle East.
On May 29, the Council extended EU restrictive measures against the Syrian government. Three Syrian ministers were also added to the list of those under EU restrictions. It now includes 240 persons and 67 entities. Thus, the sanctions regime for Syria will be in force until June 1, 2018.
