Syrian Army Expands Buffer Zone Around Palmyra

According to Inside Syria Media Center sources, the Syrian army units backed by Hezbollah attacked ISIS positions and made a step forward to Deir Ezzor from the direction of Palmyra.
Moreover the government forces managed to liberate a number of settlements along Palmyra-Deir Ezzor highway and approached Arak’s door. Arak is a strategic town which is located close to the ISIS stronghold of Sukhnah and it is rich in oil and gas. The liberation of the town is a prior goal for the Syrian High Command.
Recently, ISIS has been desperately attacking the Syrian Army positions, in order to interrupt their offensive in Homs province. However, as a result of the successful actions of the government forces, the buffer zone around Palmyra is expanding and the terrorists have to retreat deeper in the Syrian Desert.
