Iraq and Syria are setting up a joint Center for military operations to combat ISIS in the areas along the border between the countries. This was reported by the Asharq al-Awsat newspaper, referring to the statements of representatives of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense.
Within the framework of the agreements reached at the meeting between the representatives of the Iraq’s Ministry of Defense and the delegation of the Syrian Army in Baghdad, Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces crossed into Syria with heavy weapons.
According to the statements of the both sides, such a decision will strengthen the cooperation between Iraq and Syria in the fight against a common enemy – ISIS terrorists. Besides, it will affect the soonest restoration of stability in the countries.
