Belgium Extends Participation in the Coalition Against ISIS

According to the Belga news agency, the Belgian government extended the participation in the U.S.-led international coalition against Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
Initially, it was planned that the pilots of the Netherlands would replace the Belgian military. However, Amsterdam announced that the Kingdom would not be able to join the military operation before January 2018 due to personnel matters.
It is also noticed that the number of F-16fighters based in Jordan and involved in air operations would be reduced from six to four.
The mandate for mission participation in the coalition will be valid until December 31, 2017. The Belgian Air Force joined in July 2016, and the extension of their participation will cost the budget of Belgium € 17 million.
