On Monday, guarantor states of the Syrian ceasefire regime (Iran, Russia and Turkey) will hold meeting of the working group before the start of the next round of inter-Syrian talks, which are scheduled for 4-5 July.
The sides will consider the coordination of the four de-escalation zones parameters in Syria that the sides agreed to establish on May 4 at the previous round.
During the upcoming meeting, the guarantor states plan to sign a number of agreements on de-escalation zones. In addition, the sides will touch the issues of direct humanitarian access inside the zones, restoration of destroyed urban facilities as well as demining of Syria’s historical monuments that are on the UNESCO international cultural heritage list. Moreover the particular attention will be paid to issue of combating terrorism.
Apart from the representatives of guarantor states, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, Jordanian Foreign Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs Nawaf Uasfi Tel and acting Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East Affairs Bureau Stuart Jones will also take part in the upcoming round of talks.
