On August 6, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, in Tehran during a meeting with Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis stated, the U.S.-led International coalition strikes on Syrian city of Raqqa is genocide and a blatant example of human rights violation.
The statement of Shamkhani was released in reference to the recent report of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent about numerous victims among civilians during the coalition airstrike on hospital in Raqqa with the use of phosphorous munitions.
The Iranian Diplomat also mentioned that instead of real fight against terrorism, Washington takes odd measures, which strengthen the positions of militants and lead to insecurity in the region. At the same time, the International coalition conducts military operation in Syria without the permission of the legitimate government, and without UN mandate, added Shamkhani.
In his turn, Imad Khamis thanked the Iranian government for the support of Syrians, noticing that the only way to resolve the Syrian crisis peacefully is to change the policy of countries, which sponsor terrorism.
