According to a number of opposition mass media, on August 7, a number of clashes between the armed opposition groups ensued in the north-eastern part of Latakia province.
Faylaq Al-Sham units attacked the Free Syrian Army (FSA) gatherings in the area of Jabal Al-Akrad, which led to large scale clashes in the region. A senior FSA commander Ahmad Al-Jassim was among the dead militants as a result of these clashes.
For its part, FSA command released a statement, requiring extraditing people responsible for the death of Al-Jassim within 24 hours. Otherwise, FSA will initiate another offensive on their positions in Latakia.
