UN Urges All Sides of Syrian Conflict to Protect People of Raqqa

According to First Post, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric during a meeting on August 9, stated, that the organization is deeply concerned about the safety of thousands people in Raqqa. It is noted, that there are from 10,000 to 25,000 civilians in Raqqa, however this figures do not accurately reflect the situation in the ground, because of continued hostilities.
Moreover, Dujarric urged all the participants to the Syrian conflict do not forget their obligations to protect civilians and ensure unimpeded access of humanitarian aid. So, the UN representative expressed his concern about thousands people who are besieged in the ISIS-held city.
It should be noticed that in July different humanitarian organizations delivered foodstuffs, medicine and basic necessities to more than 250,000 civilians in the southern and eastern regions of Raqqa province.
