On August 30, Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus held a meeting with Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari and the accompanying delegation.
During the meeting the Syrian President stated that against the background of successful steps of the Syrian army and the allied forces a number of Western states refused to support terrorists.
At the same time, Bashar Assad highly appreciated the diplomatic and military efforts made by Iran and other friendly countries to support Syria in peaceful settlement of the crisis and frightening terrorism.
Moreover, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem met Ansari and considered prospects of the bilateral cooperation between Syria and Iran and means of enhancing them in all fields.
The diplomats also paid attention to the preparations for the next round of the Syrian talks in Astana which is scheduled for September.
