According to Kazakh Foreign Ministry, the next round of talks on Syrian settlement in the capital of Kazakhstan will be held on September 14-15. It is expected that the guarantor states (Iran, Russia and Turkey) would discuss a number of documents regulating the activities and control of de-escalation zones.
The Kazakh Foreign minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov also added that, Iran, Moscow and Ankara plan to map out de-escalation zones in Idlib, Homs and Eastern Ghouta, and discuss other matters, including prisoner’s exchange.
On September 13, before the beginning of the talks, the meeting of the joint working group is also scheduled.
It should be mentioned, that the previous meeting on Syria in Astana was held on July 4-5. The Syrian government delegation, armed oppositions, guarantor states, the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura and independent observers from the United States and Jordan took part in the talks.
In the joint statement the guarantor sates officially established the creation of a joint working group on de-escalation zones in Syria in accordance with the previously adopted memorandum.
