According to AMN News, Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham militants ex. Jabhat al-Nusra) operating in the Beit Jinn valley of western Damascus province have laid down weapons to the Syrian army and the allied forces after a series of military defeats.
It is also reported that besieged HTS jihadists holding out in the Beit Jinn valley have formally surrendered to Syrian army-led forces.
This strategic victory for the Syrian troops comes after a major assault, lasting for more than one month, which saw them capture all the high-points in the Beit Jinn region and lay total fire control over several jihadist-held strongholds at the bottom of the valley.
Furthermore, the terms of surrender which the militants have accepted have been released, they are:
1. Full reconciliation granted to militants native to the Beit Jinn region who wish to cease fighting.
2. Militants who refuse the reconciliation offer are to be transported to rebel-held areas in Daraa and Idlib Governorates.
3. Militants who entered the Beit Jinn region through Israeli-controlled territory via Daraa are to exit back to Daraa through the same route.
4. The Syrian Arab Army will regain control over all military sites and bases in the Beit Jinn valley that it possessed prior to the beginning of the crisis in 2011.
The terms of the surrender are to be implement on Tuesday the 26th of December, 2017.
