YPG Killed High-Ranking ISIS Field Commander in Deir Ezzor

The special forces arm of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) has eliminated a top ISIS leader during a recent anti-terror raid in eastern Syria. The official was wanted not only for his status as a high-ranking member of the terrorist group but also as a key planner in a big suicide bombing attack that killed tens of people in mid-2016.

According to Kurdish media sources, on Monday, special anti-terrorism units of the Kurdish YPG killed a top ISIS commander who was also the mastermind behind a suicide bomb attack that killed many tens of people (as many as 44 according to an AFP report) in the Syrian city of Qamishli on 27 July 2016.

The high-ranking ISIS leader was reportedly killed by Kurdish forces at hideout in the province of Deir Ezzor.

No exact location beyond a general reference to Deir Ezzor province, nor the name of the commander was provided by the reporting sources.
