Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani duriang a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Hammoudeh Sabbagh expressed the hope that peace and stability would be restored to the war-stricken country.
“Despite all attempts by enemies, the Syrian government has been able to live through all problems and we hope that the situation in Syria will grow stable and full tranquility will be established there,” Larijani said during the meeting on the sidelines of the 13th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states (PUIC) in Tehran on Monday.
He lauded the Syrian nation for its resistance against enemies, and said other countries have also improved their view of Syria following the recent victories of the Damascus army in the last several years.
Sabbagh, for his part, appreciated Iran for its assistance to Syria in the war against the terrorist groups, and said both countries can fight and resist against their common enemies given their strong brotherly ties.
In relevant remarks in December, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani reiterated his country’s firm decision to continue its military advisory role in Syria until all terrorist groups are uprooted.
“We will continue presence and providing advisory services in Syria until annihilation of all terrorist groups in the country at the demand of the legal Syrian government,” Shamkhani said.
He underlined that allegations against Iran by Israel or other countries would never tilt the country’s calculations and decisions in pursuit of its national interests and establishment of regional security.
