Striking Back Israel Strives to weaken Syria

The Israeli Minister of Defense Avigdor Lieberman told on Tuesday that if Syria uses any Russian missiles against the Israeli military, they will act immediately.

“What’s important to us is that the defensive weapons the Russians are giving Syria won’t be used against us,” Lieberman stated.

“If they’re used against us, we’ll act against them,” he added.
To be noticed is that recently Tel Aviv has made repeated efforts to persuade Moscow not to sell the system to Damascus, as it fears this would hinder its aerial capabilities against arms shipments to Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah. Israel has carried out scores of air strikes against suspected shipments.

A. Lieberman went on to say that while Israel “doesn’t interfere in Syria’s internal affairs, but on the other hand won’t allow Iran to flood (the country) with advanced weapons systems that would be aimed against Israel.”

“The only ones to act against us are the Syrians. When the Syrian systems acted against us, we destroyed them,” the defense minister stressed.

Lieberman’s comments were made in response to a question about Syria acquiring the Russian-manufactured S-300 system.

In fact, Israel is trying to weaken Syria in any possible way. It will give an opportunity to be on a roll in the Syrian sky especially after Israeli warplane 71 U.S. missiles were shot down. It proved the effectiveness of the long-range surface-to-air missile systems.

Apparently, Avigdor Lieberman indicated to the Syrian leadership that Israel will not stop supporting terrorists, and will continue to pursue policies aimed at weakening Syria.
