A huge explosion took place in the northern countryside of Raqqa province this morning, Kurdish sources reported via social media.
According to the sources, the explosion was reported near the US-French military base in the Al-Raqqa Governorate town of ‘Ayn ‘Issa.
The huge explosion that was heard in the northern countryside of Raqqa was reportedly due to a car blast that was detonated at a checkpoint for the Syrian Democratic Forces.
According to the reports, the car bomb was detonated just outside the town of ‘Ayn ‘Issa, which is located not far from the US-French military base.
Another report from Kurdistan 24 TV claimed that the incident was caused by exploding munitions; however, not further details were released.
It also became known that, more that 200 US and 75 military servicemen were be deployed at the base
