Civilians Continue Protesting against US-Backed Militias in Northeastern Syria

A great number of people were killed and several more were captured and wounded by the US-backed militias after civilians in Raqqa city took to the streets and chanted anti-occupation slogans on July 22.

The locals from Al-Romeileh neighborhood staged demonstrations against the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, and the SDF opened fire at the protestors and dispersed them.

At the same time, several SDF fighters were killed or injured in the explosion of a car bomb blast along a road between Raqqa and Tal Abyadh in northern part of the province.

According to the local sources, the SDF later arrested a number of locals and killed a person in northern Raqqa.

Previously on July 17, civilians from the town of Tabaqa in Western Raqqa took to the streets and protested against SDF’s measures, including forced recruitment of young men.

Then the SDF units stormed the gathering and opened fire at demonstrators.
